Thomas Mcdonald

October 26, 1934 — September 16, 2015

Tommy passed peacefully from this life on Sept. 16, 2015, in his home in Seaside.

A celebration of life service will be held Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at 2 p.m., at North Coast Fellowship Church, 2245 N. Wahanna Road in Seaside. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made to the Danny Mac Scholarship fund at the Bank of the Pacific.

Tommy was born Oct. 26, 1934, to Blanche and John McDonald in Fondelac (Mount Calvary), Wisconsin. Tommy moved to Seaside in 1946 with his mother, stepfather and brother, Bobby.

He graduated from Seaside High in 1953, enlisted in the Air Force, and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, as a jet mechanic.

He came back to Seaside and worked for C & M Construction, then Chuck Taggart Construction. He retired in 1999, and was a union member for over 45 years. He was an active Elk and American Legion lodge member, also coached Little League, and was actively involved with the Seaside Kids.

Tommy loved to work with wood and make things from recycled driftwood, rocks and hubcaps. Tommy always had an ear to listen and a few words of wisdom to pass on, and was never too busy to help a friend or family member out. He loved to tease those friends and family closest to him. He always had a friendly smile for anyone he passed, and was a joy to be around.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Susan McDonald (Seaside), brother Robert McDonald (Gladstone), daughter Lisa Whisler (Bend), son Jay McDonald (Puyallup, Washington), stepdaughter Shannon Cole (Gresham), eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny McDonald.
