We are saddened to announce the passing of Janet Babbitt on the early morning hours of Dec. 6, 2015.
Janet Lea Babbitt was born May 6, 1945, to Richard and Florence Kingrey at the U.S. Naval Base in the Seattle area. She moved with her family to Astoria in 1969, where she has resided ever since.
Janet was a stay-at-home mother until she received an associate’s degree from Clatsop Community College, and proceeded to work there as an administrative assistant until she retired.
In retirement she worked at Farm House Funk, which was one of her passions, along with watching her granddaughters play sports and helping at Astor School with first grade reading. Janet loved working in her garden, sewing and bird watching.
Janet is survived by her brother, David Kingrey, and his wife, Joan, along with their sons, Brady, his wife Sadie, and Ryan, and his wife, Jess; and Janet’s daughter, Sheryl, and son, Brian, with his wife, Laurie, and their daughters, Brianna and Bryre.
There will be a celebration of life at the Gearhart McMenamins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19.
We would ask in lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter or nature conservancy.
