Michael Thomas Sopko

In the comfort of his home, Mike Sopko passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016. He was born March 11, 1950, in Seaside, Oregon, where he was raised by Joseph and Shirley Sopko.

He graduated from Seaside High School in 1969, and from Clatsop Community College in 1972.

On July 8, 1972, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Gustafson, of Astoria. She survives, living in Warrenton, Oregon. Also surviving is his son, Matt, and daughter-in-law Tricia Sopko, along with his grandchildren, Cadence and Cohen Sopko, all of Warrenton, Oregon; his mother, Shirley Sopko of Seaside, Oregon; his brothers, Ron Sopko of Georgetown, Delaware, and Joe Sopko of Seaside, Oregon; and his sister, Susan Jarmer of Portland, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sopko, and his brother, Rance Sopko.

Funeral services will be held at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary in Astoria, on Friday, April 1, at 1 p.m. A graveside service follows at Ocean View Cemetery. Viewings will be on Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
