Dorothy Anne Leslie

September 8, 1923 — May 29, 2016

Dorothy Leslie, a lifelong Astorian, passed away May 29, 2016.

She was born Sept. 8, 1923, to James and Anna O’Bryan, and was raised in the Fernhill area. She attended Fernhill School and Astoria High School, graduating in 1942.

She spent her working life in the Bumble Bee Seafood office, eventually becoming secretary to the president.

It was at Bumble Bee that she met her husband, Fred Leslie. They were married in 1959, and settled at their home in Fernhill, where she lived all but the last eight years of her life. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Dorothy was an avid reader and gardener. She was a devoted follower of the Portland Trail Blazers since their first season, and never missed a Seattle Mariners broadcast.

She is survived by a son, Grant Leslie of Astoria; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Berri Leslie of Salem; two grandchildren, Henry and Eleanor Leslie; one cousin; one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy O’Bryan, and her sister, Jean O’Bryan.

Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the staffs of Clatsop Retirement Village and Clatsop Care Center for eight years of loving, dedicated care.

The family also requests that in lieu of a memorial donation, that those who wish to do a kind act for a family member, friend, acquaintance or stranger, tell them that it is in memory of Dorothy.

A memorial gathering will be held, probably later this summer.
