Anne Caruthers (Nimtz) died unexpectedly Monday, July 4, 2016, in Svensen, Oregon, at the age of 59, from breast cancer. She carried the knowledge of her diagnosis privately, with such poise and grace that it was only discovered after her death.
Anne was a compassionate, quirky woman who loved her family above all else. Her love knew no bounds, and she was known for taking in stray animals and caring for her children’s friends as if they were her own. Her love was unconditional and absolute.
Everyone knew they could always count on her; she was selfless and gave what she had freely and without question to help those around her. Above all else, Anne will be remembered for being a funny, kind, loving woman who lived her life for others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Anne is survived by her husband, Steve Caruthers; her three daughters, Venus Larson, Amber Holt and Michelle Nichols; her grandchildren, Joseph Thorne, CJ Thorne and Elizabeth Thorne; her mother, Roberta Work; her two brothers, Blaine Nimtz and William Nimtz; and her mother-in-law, Betty Brumm.
A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 2016, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary in Astoria, Oregon. A celebration of life will be held afterward from 3 to 6 p.m. at 1450 Madison Ave, Astoria, Oregon. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Anne’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Vet Ranch, P.O. Box 641, Boerne, TX 78006, an organization dedicated to providing medical treatment to homeless animals that would otherwise have no advocate.
