Minerva E. “Eileen” Jones, 96, passed away Dec. 24, 2016, at Community Home Health and Hospice in Longview, Washington.
She was born May 9, 1920, in Oregon County, Missouri, at Falling Springs, the Brown homestead near New Liberty, Missouri (Brawley), to parents Walter and Mabel (Hardgrove) Brown. Eileen was the second child born to the family, which included Harold, Kenneth, Vernon and Donald.
On Sept. 6, 1947, Eileen married Silas Jones in Missouri, then soon after they headed to Oregon, settling in Warrenton, Oregon, where their son Ronald Dean Jones was born in 1948. The family remained in the Warrenton area their entire married life, until Silas’ death in 2011. Eileen moved to Clatskanie, Oregon, in 2012 to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
Eileen was a shy, private, very creative and talented lady, as well as an avid reader and a whiz at the daily newspaper crossword puzzles up until her mid-90s, when her eyesight began to fail. She especially enjoyed the Christmas holiday with her two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Surviving Eileen, who will forever be loved and remembered, are her son, Ronald Dean and his wife, Sharon Jones; grandson Ron Jones Jr. (Agnes) and granddaughter Renee Kyme (Shane Robinson); great-grandchildren Rebecca Kyme, Bryton Kyme, Lexi Robinson, Zoey Jones and Zachary Jones; brother Vernon Brown; and a dear, longtime family friend, Luella Kerr, and her family.
As per Eileen’s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary.
Donations in remembrance of Eileen may be sent to Community Home Health and Hospice, Longview, Washington.
