Michael W. Foster

Michael W. Foster was born a St. Mary’s Hospital in Astoria, Oregon, June 29, 1940, to William and Margaret (Carlson) Foster. Michael was a fourth generation Astorian.

He attended Lewis and Clark Central Grade School and Astoria High School. He graduated from Willamette University and received his master’s degree from the University of Oregon.

Besides his many community activities, he had Michael’s Antiques for many years.

He is survived by his sister, Susan (Foster) Mariani, her son, William Mariani, and grandson, Damian Mariani, of Italy; cousins Kenneth Ryan, Patricia (Ryan) Bogart and Katherine Hellberg; and friend, Marilyn Birkel.

A private interment has been held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Astoria High School Scholarships Inc., Friends of the Liberty Theater, Clatsop County Historical Society, Columbia River Maritime Museum or a charity of one’s choice.
