Eleanor Marie Leppinen

Eleanor Marie Leppinen, 90, of Longview, Washington, died April 7, 2017, at the Hospice Care Center in Longview.

She was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Astoria, Oregon, to Ferdinand and Margaret Pumala.

She was married to Veikko Leppinen from Nov. 11, 1951, until his death on Aug. 27, 1977.

Eleanor lived most of her life in Astoria and the surrounding areas, except for a couple of years spent in Finland, where she and Veikko owned a general store. The last year of her life she resided at Delaware Assisted Living in Longview.

She and Veikko owned and operated motels in Seaside and Newport, as well as apartments in Astoria.

Eleanor was also a real estate agent for 25 years in Astoria, along with owning various antique shops.

She was an energetic and active person, who enjoyed many hobbies, such as antique hunting, knitting and crocheting.

Eleanor was a longtime member of the Longview Laestadian Lutheran Church.

The visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Caldwell’s Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave. in Astoria.
