Karen Agnethe Radich

November 16, 1921 — December 6, 2017

Karen passed away Dec. 6, 2017, in Astoria, Oregon, at the age of 96. She was born Nov. 16, 1921, in Koed, Denmark, to the late Valdemar and Johanne Pedersen.

She was 2 years and 3 months old when her parents came to America and settled in Utah. In 1931, the family came to Oregon, living in Astoria and in Warrenton since 1945. She graduated from Astoria High School in 1941.

She served in the Navy Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) for two years as a pharmacist’s mate second class.

She married Lloyd Hagnas in 1946, and was divorced in 1956. Two children were born into this union, Linda and Carl.

Karen has worked at Hill Air Base in Utah as a storekeeper supervisor, the fish canneries, Tongue Point naval base till its closure, renovating houses, and also worked in the flour mill.

Karen met and then married Luka Radich Dec. 1, 1962, and later sealed to him for time and all eternity in the Seattle Latter-day Saints Temple in 1986. Luka passed away in 1993.

Karen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her earlier years, she loved dancing and bowling. In her golden years, playing pinochle was her joy. Her other enjoyable things were traveling, pinochle groups, clam digging, sport fishing, dancing, Tops Ladies, Veteran Ladies, church luncheons, Danish Society, gardening, church and family.

Survivors include a son, Carl Hagnas of Warrenton, Oregon; a daughter, Linda Millard of Corvallis, Oregon; a sister, Verna Hellberg of Astoria; a brother-in-law, Merle Thornton of Warrenton; a sister-in- law, Margie Radich of Portland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren also survive, as well as too many special friends to name them all individually. You

know who you are, and she loved you all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl, and his wife, Beverly; a brother, Erik, and his wife, Madge; a sister, Viola; a stepson, Lloyd Hagnas Jr.; a son-in-law, Steven Millard; and a brother-in law, Edward Hellberg.

Karen will be remembered for her smile, her sense of humor, her friendliness, her love for people, and she loved hugs. She will be missed by her family and many, many friends.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 350 Niagara Ave., in Astoria, Oregon, on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Relief Society Room at the church.

Committal services will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Oregon. Alan Oja will dedicate the grave and Navy Funeral Honors will give the farewell salute and taps. Following the committal services, please return to the church for a friendship hour and lunch.
