Rodger D. Larson, 69, of Astoria, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, in Astoria.
He
was born March 22, 1940, in St. Helens, to Walter Larson and Violet R.
(Johnston) Larson Loomis. His parents and stepfather, William Loomis,
preceded him in death.
He was raised in St. Helens and Astoria, where he has lived since 1954.
Mr. Larson was employed by gas stations and worked in the metal fabrication field. He was also a cannery maintenance worker.
Family members said he enjoyed National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, fishing and rebuilding cars.
He
is survived by his partner of 27 years, Connie Hansen of Astoria; two
brothers and a sister-in-law, Doug Larson of Roseburg and Terry and
Cathy Loomis of Astoria; a nephew, Mike Larson and his wife, Lisa, of
St. Helens; a great-niece and great-nephew, Amber and Jared Larson of
St. Helens; a cousin, Brent Violet of St. Helens; and numerous other
cousins.
At Mr. Larson's request, no formal service will be held.
Memorial
contributions may be made to the Clatsop County Animal Shelter or the
charity of one's choice, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary,
1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
