Vivian Rose Williams

Vivian Rose Williams, 70, of Astoria, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, in Longview, Wash.

She was born June 19, 1939, in Bellingham, Wash.

In 1957, she graduated from high school in Clatskanie.

On June 8, 1957, she married Richard Williams in Astoria. They later divorced.

Mrs. Williams started working at the Bumble Bee Seafood Cannery in Astoria, then at the Astoria Plywood Mill. She was a cook at the Merry Time Tavern, Labor Temple and at the Clatsop Retirement Village. She retired in 2000.

Family members said she enjoyed making quilts and raffling them off to help raise money for the Astoria Moose Lodge and the American Legion. She also enjoyed her hummingbird feeders, deer in her yard and her cats, especially Dina.

She is survived by her companion of 24 years, Jon Hissner of Astoria; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Eddie Korhonen of Astoria and Angela and Tim O'Brien of Salem; two sons, Curtis Crouch of Keizer and Richard "Richie" Williams of Astoria; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Weston and Matthew O'Brien of Salem; a stepson, Jimmy Hissner and his wife, Tammy, of Astoria; a stepdaughter, Lori Walker and her husband, Bill, of Portland; five step-grandchildren, Cory, Richard and Sarah Hissner of Astoria and Kenny and Kevin Walker of Portland; a sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Bill Womack of Rainier; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Davey and Gloria Crape and Kenney and Connie Crape of Clatskanie; a niece, Kari Strickland and her husband, Dave, of Astoria; and numerous other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Visitation will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1365 S. Main Ave. in Warrenton. A reception will follow at the church.
