Darlene Grace Knapp Koskela, 63, of Astoria, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, in Astoria.
She was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Astoria, to Howard and Grace (Bartlett) Knapp. Her parents preceded her in death.
She was raised in Astoria.
On Nov. 29, 1964, she married Mike Koskela. He survives, residing in Astoria.
Mrs. Koskela was a homemaker. She also worked with her husband at their Astoria machine shop, K Manufacturing Inc., since 1979.
Family
members said she enjoyed spending time with family, especially at
picnics and reunions at the family lake. She enjoyed gardening and
loved pets and horses.
In addition to her husband, she is
survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Julie and Randy Huffman and
Lori Bryan, all of Astoria; a son, Bryan Koskela of Astoria; two
brothers, Lowell Knapp and his wife, Carolyn, and Howard Knapp, all of
Astoria; two sisters-in-law, Mary Koskela and Lorell Stoneman; a
mother-in-law, Luella Koskela; seven grandchildren, Clay Huffman, Mason
and Mike Bryan, Lisa Gedenberg, Lacy Buck, Miranda Dietrichs and Ivy
Dowell; 12 nieces and nephews, Bill Koskela and his wife, Gina, David
Koskela, Carolyn Morlan and her husband, Chuck, Melissa LaRue and her
husband, Robin, Eugene and Michelle Underhill, Rob Knapp, Mindy Knapp
Landwehr, Kim Knapp Lebeck, and Kathy, Duane and Loren Knapp; and four
aunts and an uncle, Don and Carolyn Bartlett, Laura Long, Harriett
Kirker, and Jeanette Graue.
She was preceded in death by a father-in-law, Eino Koskela; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Koskela.
A
graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood
Cemetery in Astoria. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at the Astoria
Moose Lodge, 420 17th St.
Memorial contributions may be made to
the Special Olympics, American Cancer Society, or Lower Columbia
Hospice, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin
Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
