Edward Eugene "Red" Hodson, 75, of Astoria, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Astoria.
He was born March 4, 1935, in Lawton, Okla.
He served for four years in the U.S. Navy.
On Feb. 6, 1954, he married Bertha Hodson in Rawlins, Wyo. She survives, residing in Astoria.
Mr. Hodson was a 50-year union carpenter. He was a carpentry instructor for 25 years at Tongue Point Job Corps Center, and was president of the local union. He retired in June 2003.
He was a member of the American Legion and Fort Clatsop Muzzle Loading Club.
Family members said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Darryl Hodson of Astoria; two daughters, Nancy Allyn of Hermiston and Janice Kanehailua of Honolulu; four grandchildren, Tawnya Jenkins of Astoria, Ryan Shurtleff of Sherwood, Jeremy Hodson of Warrenton and Kerry Martin of Salem; and three great-grandchildren, Landon and Shyre Hodson of Warrenton and Brandon Allyn of Sherwood.
A public celebration of life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 13 at Clatsop Post 12 American Legion, 1132 Exchange St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
