Warrenton resident, 81
Robert G. Black, 81, of Warrenton, died Friday, March 12, 2010, in Warrenton.
He was born Jan. 8, 1929, in Chicago. He was the son of Sherley H. and Edna (Hainzinger) Black.
In 1949, he married Jeannine (Waln) Black. They later divorced.
Mr. Black came to the Northwest from Chicago in 1939. He retired at age 62 in 1991 after a lengthy career as an electrician in the building and construction industry. He also worked as a commercial fisherman and subsequently in charter boat fishing.
Family members said his special interests included boating, hunting, fishing, clam digging and restoring wooden boats. He was a steward of the land and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debra Black of Damascus; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol R. Villa of Portland and Cheryl L. and Kenneth Winebrenner of Albany; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Dixie Black of Warrenton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley "Jean" and Perry Nordmark of Seaside and MaryAnn and Richard Kelly of Yuma, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by a son, Richard G. Black.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at the United Methodist Church, 679 S. Main Ave. in Warrenton.
