Dale Thomas Fowler, 69, of Astoria, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Astoria.
He was born June 20, 1940, in Jefferson, Pa., to James H. and Dorothy J. (Bryson) Fowler.
He was raised and educated in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a high school graduate.
From September 1958 to July 1961, he served in the U.S. Army.
In August 1964, he married Marian Stiger of Ohio. They later divorced.
Mr. Fowler retired after 30 years as a lieutenant with the Brunswick City Fire Department. He moved from Ohio to Astoria, where he has lived with his family since 2007.
Family members said he was an avid history buff. He especially enjoyed long drives and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Frank Panico of Parma, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Wilber and Dee Fowler of Cleveland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and David McKenzie of Medina, Ohio, and Kristina and David Wolfgram of Astoria; and four grandchildren, Angela Fowler of Greenwood, Ind., Jennifer McKenzie of Medina and Holly and Carolyne Wolfgram of Astoria.
At Mr. Fowler's request, there will be no formal service.
