Shirley I. Beisse (1927 - 2010)

Shirley Irene Beisse, 82, of Sarasota, Fla., died May 16, 2010, in Astoria.

She was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Claude and Gertrude C. (Fallon) Padgett.

Shirley graduated from high school in Tarrytown, N.Y. After graduation she moved to Cincinnati.

She married Robert C. Beisse in August of 1948. He preceded her in death in January of 1986.

Shirley was a full-time homemaker, lovingly raising her family. Shirley and Robert moved to Sarasota in 1985. Her family will remember how much she loved her children and grandchildren. She also loved her dogs and was very active in the Lutheran Church. She will be missed by her family very much.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Theresa Beisse of Longview; a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Ralph Gutknecht of Sarasota; five grandchildren, Braden Beisse of Gresham, Ore., Anna Beisse and Joey Beisse, both of Longview, and Dave Gutknecht and Doug Gutknecht, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; and five great-grandchildren, Jake Gutknecht, Pressley Gutknecht and Juliana Gutknecht, all of Jacksonville, and Nalani Mattson and Parker Beisse, both of Longview.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sarasota.
