Alfred Monroe Hoff, 76, of Warrenton, died Monday, June 14, 2010, in Astoria.
He was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Deloraine, Manitoba, to Albert and Mary Josephine (Elrod) Hoff.
From 1958 to 1964, he served in the U.S. Army.
On March 30, 1963, he married Myrtle Petersen in Portland. They later divorced.
Mr. Hoff drove semi truck for O-N-C (Oregon-Nevada-California), Nehalem Valley and City Transfer. He retired from the Warrenton saw mill in approximately 1998.
He attended Warrenton Christian Church and was a member of Teamsters Local 158.
Family members said he loved farming, fixing things, working on automobiles, the Portland Trail Blazers, collecting coins, bottle digging, crossword puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and anything outdoors.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Curnow of the Marshall Islands; two sisters, Mary Jo Kelly of Canby and Viola Henke of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, Alvin Hoff of Fortuna, N.D.; and four grandchildren, Benjamin and Jonathan Sago of Corvallis and Amanda and Jennifer Jordan of Warrenton.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Olson and Louise Hoff; two brothers, Bill and Otto Hoff; and a daughter, Amy Jordan.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19 at the Warrenton Community Center, 170 Third St. in Warrenton.
He will be interred at Ocean View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lower Columbia Hospice, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
