Ida Eileen Schauer, 69, of Astoria, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in Astoria. She was born Sept. 17, 1940, in Placerville, Calif., to Earl and Dorothea (Lewis) Thomas. She attended high school in Harrison, Idaho. On July 12, 1958, she married Clarence Floyd Schauer in Sacramento, Calif. He preceded her in death. The couple resided in Sacramento from 1958 to 1996. Mrs. Schauer was a supervisor in the state of California's Consumer Affairs Department. She moved to Astoria in 1996 and was a tax preparer for H & R Block in Astoria. She retired in 2008. She was a member of the Clatsop County Historical Society. Family members said she enjoyed gardening, painting, remodeling and traveling. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Richard Jensen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Linda Schauer of Chelmsford, Mass.; two sisters, Gail MacBride of Sacramento and Ella Martinez of Pilot Hill, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Kristina Jensen of Sioux Falls, Shane Junkin of Sacramento, Amber Gomez of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Christopher and Allison Schauer of Chelmsford. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 19, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary. After the funeral, interment will take place at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
