Robert Alonzo "Bob" Fackler, 89, Pharmacist, of Warrenton, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at home.
He was born March 13, 1921, in Mount Vernon, Wash., to Alonzo and Ruby Lucille (Marsten) Fackler.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for 3 1/2 years.
In 1950, he graduated from Washington State College with a degree in pharmacy.
On Dec. 15, 1945, he married Kathleen Isabel Smith in Bellingham, Wash. She survives, residing in Warrenton.
Mr. Fackler was a pharmacist. He retired in 1986.
He volunteered as a pharmacist on the hospital ship Anastasis. He also volunteered for the Warrenton Rural Fire District Board and the American Cancer Society. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Astoria, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Scottish Rite and Elks. He participated in the children's reading program at Warrenton Grade School.
Family members said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, woodworking and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ledgerwood of Hammond; a son, R. Brian Fackler of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Richard Fackler of Bellingham; a sister, Ruth Adams of Leavenworth, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Buxton of Duluth, Minn., and Barbara Kenner of Lynnwood, Wash.; a brother-in-law, Harold Kenner of Lynnwood; and four grandchildren, Robert and Richard Ledgerwood of Hammond, Kathleen Fackler of Portland and Matthew Fackler of Springfield.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24 at First Lutheran Church, 725 33rd St.
Inurnment will be at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Warrenton Firefighters Association, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR?97103.
