Michael Kelly Hamilton Sr., 67, of Hammond, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, in Astoria.

He was born May 16, 1943, in Foley, Ala., to Nelson K. and Gayle (Rowland) Hamilton.

He was raised in Pensacola, Fla.

In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Navy Seal. He was honorably discharged from the service after being wounded in 1965 in Vietnam.

He married Sharon Woodbeck. She preceded him in death in 2001.

In June 2005, he married Lorna Scott. She survives, residing in Hammond.

Mr. Hamilton came to the local area from Myrtle Creek in 1999 and worked for the phone company until his retirement in 2006.

He is a past member of the Elks, American Legion, Moose Lodge and Eagles.

Family members said he loved singing karaoke, fishing, spending time with his family, fishing and then more fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Angie Hamilton and Kim Williams; two sons, Michael Hamilton Jr. of Washington and Mike Wammack and his wife, Tanya, of Elsie; three brothers, Frank Hamilton of Florida, David Hamilton of Texas and John Hamilton of Portland; three stepdaughters, Debi Martin and her husband, Lonn, of Astoria, Tina Pickell of Longview, Wash., and Wendy Rogers of Arizona; a stepson, Bob Robinson of Portland; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Haggard, Kristen Kuhlny, Teresa Rogers, Ariana and Eden Rose Robinson, Mitchell Martin, Ryan Pickell and Justin Wammack; five great-granddaughters, Ashley, Tanja Jean and Rebecca Wammack and Alison and Heide Lenz; and a special friend, Pat Chesser.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Karen Wammack, Sept. 29, 2005.

Mr. Hamilton requested that there be no service.
