Gerald "Jerry" Ray Booker

Gerald Ray "Jerry" Booker, 72, of Astoria, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in Portland.

He was born Jan. 4, 1938, in Fletcher, Okla., to Gerald Melvin and Ila Naomi (Black) Booker.

He attended school in Amarillo, Texas.

From February 1959 to December 1962, he served in the U.S. Navy.

On June 29, 1962, he married Louetta Anne Hill in Astoria. She survives, residing in Astoria. The couple lived in Sacramento, Calif., for five years. They moved to Astoria in October 1967.

Mr. Booker worked for Fisher Brothers Industrial and Marine Supply in Astoria for 17 years. In 1984, he went to work at Tongue Point Job Corps in the logistics department. He retired in 1998. He then worked for the Vince Williams automobile dealership for seven years as a transfer driver.

He was a member of the Astoria Moose Lodge No. 408.

Family members said his hobbies included watching all kinds of sports on TV.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jeri Anne Booker of Astoria and Gayle and Matt Sikorski of Eatonville, Wash.; two grandchildren, Raeanna and Gregory Dylan Sikorski of Eatonville; a niece, Rachel Booker of Vancouver, Wash.; an uncle, Bill Black of Ben Wheeler, Texas; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Booker, in 1992; and a stepfather, Claude O. Williams.

Visitation will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or a charity of one's choice, in care of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary, 1165 Franklin Ave., Astoria, OR 97103.
