Mary Jeane Mason

Mary “Jeane” Mason, 91, of Warrenton, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, in Astoria.

She was born March 16, 1919, in Hiawatha, Kan., to Thomas E. and Flora (Watkins) Heart.

She received her elementary education in Kansas. The family moved to Longview, Wash., in the 1930s.

She graduated from R.A. Long High School. She worked for a few years at Longview Fiber Company and also worked at various other jobs.

She married Lawrence “Larry” Ward in Longview. He preceded her in death in 1988. The couple had a summer home in Hoods Canal, Wash., where they lived after her husband’s retirement.

In 1992, she married Robert Mason in Hoods Canal. He preceded her in death in 2003.

In the mid-1990s, Mrs. Mason became a clothing graphic designer and had several screen-print patents. She moved to Warrenton in 2003, and had resided there since. She also enjoyed making and selling greeting cards.

Family members said her hobbies included playing cards, clam digging, fishing, playing the piano and gardening.

She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Patricia Ward of Warrenton and Donald and Rex Ward of Longview; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be announced at a later date.
