Charmaine “Charlie” Campbell, 95, of Astoria, passed away on Nov. 22 in Astoria.
Born on Feb. 29, 1928, Charmaine was known for her kindness, generosity and hardworking nature.
Charmaine and her husband, Jim, owned and operated Pat and Len’s Cafe for many years, where her macaroni salad became legendary. After selling the business, she dedicated her time to volunteering at Columbia Memorial Hospital, eventually becoming a ward clerk.
In her free time, Charmaine enjoyed watching sports, particularly the Seattle Mariners and the Portland Timbers. She also loved cooking for her many friends and neighbors, ensuring no one ever walked away hungry.
Charmaine is survived by her daughters, Sandie Scarcello (John), of Spokane, Washington, and Becky Varner (Bill), of Astoria; a brother, Ron Wilsey, of Vader, Washington; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Campbell; sons, Jack Bishop and James Campbell; and sister, Shirley McMaster.
Charmaine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
