Judy M. Kettleson was a happy girl, and enjoyed people. Although, if you crossed her, she would certainly let you know.
She attended Sellwood Kindergarten in Portland. At age 7, she was transferred to the Portland Children’s Center for special needs children. When she turned 18, she was sent to Fairview Training Center in Salem. When Fairview closed, she was placed in a group home through Coast Rehabilitation in Astoria. This was a good move for her, more like family living.
She lived in several homes in Astoria, Seaside and Warrenton, including Taylor House, Tillicum House, Bridgeview House, Beach House and lastly, Kancharla Adult Foster Home. She made many friends in these homes, including Carol Gearhart, Rose Smith and others, including the special people who cared so lovingly for her.
During her time in Astoria she worked half-days and attended training the other half of the day. She worked at the Astoria Library cleaning tables and windows, and at Fort Stevens cleaning camping areas and other places for some time.
One day, she didn’t go to work and decided on her own that she was retired. That was it, she was done working.
Judy passed away at 70 years old on Sept. 2. She was born on May 15, 1953. She is survived by her brother, Harold Kettleson; sisters, Jean Anne Harding and Susie Demo; and nine cousins.
Her mom and dad, Harold and Elma Kettleson, and her brother, Bill Kettleson, preceded her in death.
Judy was very special to us, and will be missed.
