Lori Lillian Halverson was born on Nov. 26, 1959, to William “Carl” and Lois Abraham. It was, coincidentally, Thanksgiving Day, and her mother never let her live down the fact that she only got saltines and ginger ale instead of a turkey dinner.
Lori spent much of her childhood in Tigard, growing up there with her older brother, Brian, and younger brother, Curt, in a little house that her grandfather built.
In her teenage years, she moved to Astoria with her father and younger brother, and gained a stepmother, Carol, and two stepsiblings, Alan and Judy.
She graduated from Astoria High School in 1978, and started taking early childhood education classes at Clatsop Community College.
While in high school, she met her lifelong love, Thor, and they married and had two kids, Samantha and Howard. As a family, they enjoyed going on trips during the summer to the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, visiting Lori’s grandmother, aunt, uncle and cousins.
Lori went home to be with her creator on May 5. Lori is survived by her beloved husband, Thor; her daughter, Samantha; her son, Howard, and her daughter-in-love, Emily; and many more friends and family members.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on May 25 at the Westport Community Church in Westport. There will be a potluck following, so please bring side dishes and memories to share.
