Peggy Diane (Parker) Hutt, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 69 at Clatsop Memory Care in Warrenton, just after midnight on Oct. 28 with her husband, David, by her side.
Peggy was born on May 25, 1954, to Jim and Francine Parker in Astoria. She attended St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic School and graduated from Astoria High School in 1972.
Peggy will be remembered, above all, for her kindness. Few would deserve this distinction more. Peggy had a great passion for friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Franny Parker. Peggy spoke of them often with deep love and affection.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Scott Parker (his wife, Mary, survives, living in Astoria); her sister, Gayle Parker; and brother, Jimmy Parker. Peggy so loved and admired her siblings, and would share wonderful stories about growing up as a Parker.
Peggy was able to spend time with grandson, Jake, before his passing in 2003. She spoke of her love for him often.
Peggy owned and liked riding horses in her younger years, enjoyed ceramics, bike riding and, more than occasionally, rolling a great game in a league at the bowling alley.
Music was a passion for Peggy, and even though in the final months the lyrics were fading, Peggy didn’t mind as she would simply make up new ones. People at the care center would gather around to hear her latest version of “You Are My Sunshine.” She was dearly loved by those who knew and cared for her at home, and eventually at Clatsop Memory Care.
Peggy was, for several years, a caregiver at many of the facilities around Seaside. Peggy’s caregiver heart made her uniquely qualified.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Dave, and a large, blended family, although she would delete the word “blended” for just “family.” She loved, and was so proud of her son, Monty McCleary (wife, Angela), and grandchildren, Trevor, Kyler and Trey McCleary; David’s son, Jeff Hutt, and daughter, Kim Tabor (husband, Mike), and youngest son, Jonathan Hutt, and grandchildren, Melissa, Holly, Adam, Natalie, Heather, Gabe, Rafe, Jonathan, James, Kaden, Blake and George; and great-grandson, Miles Ocean.
Peggy loved her many nieces and nephews, Danny (wife, Lori), Christina, Zach, Scotty, Laura, Casey, Jennifer, Grady and Megan.
Rachael Gibson, caregiver for both Peggy and her sister, Gayle, now remains part of the family.
Our beloved Peggy left us much too soon, but also left such an indelible impression that she will be remembered always by those of us fortunate enough to know and love her.
A celebration of life is being planned.
